No More Excuses

Most days I love training.  No secret there.  But every once in a while, when I’m not quite feeling it, I catch myself looking for an excuse.  At these times the flimsiest, lamest excuse will do.  You know what I mean, right?  The funny thing about excuses is that to someone outside looking in, they seem to be the most ridiculous and inane things, yet to we who are making them they seem to be perfectly logical and iron clad.  Fact is, once we set our minds on an excuse, it takes a huge, overwhelming effort to push it aside and get done what we need to do.

In my line of work most of the excuses I hear, as well as sometimes make myself, are in reference to training or exercising and why we can’t do them right now.  But these excuses are just that, excuses.  They are not reality.  They are fabricated to avoid what we perceive as difficult or perhaps painful and to allow us to be lazy.  In my experience, every time I have pushed aside my excuses and persevered with my scheduled training session, I have had physical, mental, and spiritual breakthroughs.  I have gone beyond my perceived limitations and proven to myself yet again that I can do it – as you know you can too.

Now is the time to set aside the excuses.  We all have them, we know.  We all make them.  But that’s no excuse for them.  Get it done.
