The Myth of the Impossible Workout

Strap in, Warriors.  I have something I need to get off my chest.

This has been on my mind lately and it drives me absolutely crazy.  It’s the idea running rampant in the fitness industry that to have had a productive, effective workout you must lying in the fetal position in a pool of your own sweat and vomit at the end of it.  This is ridiculous. Improve Yourself Every Day

“Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them.”
William Shakespeare, Twelfth Night

The potential for greatness lies within us all.  We just need to cultivate it.  But cultivation requires 2 things: effort and consistency.  If you want to pursue your own innate greatness you must DO something every day to bring it closer.  Daily effort sharpens the focus, polishes the shine, bringing you one step closer ever day. Are You an Action TAKER or an Action TALKER?

This may be overly simplistic, but to me there really are only 2 kinds of people in the world. You are either an action TAKER or an action TALKER. And all of us immediately know the difference – it’s the “L”, right?  But seriously… Continue reading

My First Fight

I’ll never forget my first fight.  In fact, the thought of it even now gets me all worked up.  I’m not sure exactly how old I was, maybe 6 years old, but I know I was in 1st grade.  This little boy, who had a reputation of being the class bully, was picking on a girl I liked.  Her name was Autumn.  She had bright blue eyes and hair so blond it was almost white.  My first crush.  Continue reading

The Day That Changed My Life

I still remember it like it was yesterday.  I was 16 years old, sitting in the back seat of my parent’s car thumbing through the latest issue of Black Belt magazine when I came to a full page advertisement for the 1989 Tai Kai with Ninjutsu Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi.  To my shock and utter astonishment this 3-day seminar with the master ninja and his top students from Japan was being held in the United States.  Not only was it being held in the US, but in my home state of NJ, not even an hour drive from my house!  Something clicked in my brain – I HAD to go to this thing!  Continue reading

5 Ways to Improve Your Hand-Eye Coordination

Check out this awesome guest blog post by Australian Strength Coach sensation, John Wayne Legg!

Nobody would argue that to reach your true potential in a martial art or combat sport, you need to be accurate when executing a move. Lessons in the Mud

Warriors Are Mudders Too!

This past Saturday I, along with my brother Dave and my brother-from-another-mother, Jason, ran the ultimate Adventure Race, the Tough Mudder!  If you are not familiar with the Tough Mudder, let me explain.  It is a 12 mile race with 25 military style obstacles between mile 1 and mile 12.  Oh yeah, and lots and lots of mud!  Continue reading
