Resolutions Are Bogus

I’ve had it with the whole New Year Resolutions thing.  I’m done.  I’m getting off the bandwagon and actively choosing to NOT participate.  The whole concept is bogus nonsense anyway when you think about it.

Why?

Every year the same damn thing happens over and over again like clockwork.  January 1st is rolling around and suddenly we all must resolve to do something.  We pick this first day of the new calendar as a way to wipe the slate clean and make a change to:

lose weight,

get in shape,

quit smoking,

start eating healthier,

start a new job,

start a new venture,

whatever.

But it never works.  People are completely gung ho for the first couple weeks (if they’re lucky) and then life intervenes.  Old habits rear their ugly head. Work gets busy.  Family gets busy.  Laziness takes over.  Why does this happen?  Why is change is harder than we think?  Why do we begin with the best of intention but then ultimately fail ALL the time?

no-new-years-resolutions

You see, this idea for change at the beginning of the year does not come from inside us.  It comes from some external societal pressure that just because the new year is dawning we all must make a resolution to do something different.  Everyone else is doing it so we should too – Nonsense.

Change does not come about from outside in.  It doesn’t work that way.  The only true, real, lasting change can only come from inside of us out.  You want to make a change?  Then DO IT.  Don’t resolve.  Don’t wait for January 1st.  Don’t try to fit in with what everyone else around you is doing.  Start today.  Right NOW.  Forget about the artificial construct of New Year Resolutions.  They’re bogus.

No Excuses

And, by the way, I’m also calling bullshit on your excuses.  Don’t tell me you don’t have time to train.  Don’t tell me you don’t have time to eat right.  Don’t tell me you don’t have time to come to the gym.

We all want more time…

Yet what strikes me as extremely ironic is that the one thing that will actually GIVE us more time in the real sense of the word, taking care of your body, is the one thing most of us say we don’t have time for.  Think about that a little bit when you are prioritizing your schedule.  If you do not make time for keeping your body healthy, you will eventually have no choice but to make time for being sick.
