Dear Martial Friend,
Old man strength is more a myth than a reality these days.
Most of us get weaker as we get older, not stronger.
In fact it's a rare breed of human being who is able to be strong for his entire lifetime. And I've gotta tell ya, based on how we are going today, it's getting rarer by the day.
I don't know about you, but I'm not ok with that.
I'm not ok with being weak and frail.
I'm not ok with losing my hard won strength to age and decrepitude.
Luckily for us there's a way to avoid it.
A Chinese martial arts proverb states, "Training the technique without training the internal energy, it is all in vain when one gets old."
In other words, martial artists who do not possess gong fu (the means of attainment that increases internal energy) will get weaker. But those who train their internal energy will stay strong.
In Martial Qigong we learn how to train the muscles, tendons, bones, and skin externally while simultaneously training the internal energy (qi). It is only in this holistic merging of internal and external training that we can be truly strong as we get older.
I'm in the process of putting together a brand new online course covering all aspects of Martial Qigong.
Martial Qigong goes back to the Shaolin temple and the muscle tendon changing classic created by Da Mo.
The monks found that they could not only increase their health through these exercises, but also greatly improved the power of their martial art techniques. When qigong was first applied to martial arts, it was used to increase the power and efficiency of the muscles. The theory is that the mind is used to lead the Chi to the muscles to energize them so they can function more efficiently.
If we can train the concentration and use the intent (Yi) to lead the Chi to the muscles more effectively, we will be able to energize the muscles to a higher level and increase the fighting effectiveness and overall health and strength.
The qigong that we will study in this new program is classified into two broad categories. The Weidan and the Neidan. These are the external elixir and the internal elixir. Basically it is the study of energizing the body from the outside in and from the inside out. We will go much much deeper into this concept in the program.

Martial Qigong Course FAQS
Q: Can an out of shape almost 70 year old do this program?
A: Yes, you absolutely can do this! Each lesson will give you options to make the exercises easier or more challenging depending on your level. Also Qigong is meant to increase the efficiency of your body and help it operate on a higher level by increasing your daily energy so you should have no problem with the course.
Q: This sounds very interesting. How does it link in with the Aiki Body course?
A: This new program will be different from the Aiki Warrior program. They are similar in that both train the internal work, but the Martial Qigong now looks are both external and internal from more of an qi (energy) point of view and how to use the internal energy to build strength in the muscles & tendons, as well as increase the internal circulation of energy in the body. It is super cool stuff - you will love it! 🙂
Q: How many lessons are planned for the program?
A: This is going to be an extremely comprehensive course on Martial Arts Qigong. I will be releasing 3 video lessons each week for 6 weeks, so 18 lessons in all.
Q: What kind of exercises does martial qigong cover?
A: Martial Qigong is one of the 4 main categories of Qigong that have been classified over the past 2 thousand years. When qigong theory, alongside the new (circa 557 AD) Yi Jin Jing, was first applied to martial arts training it was used to increase the power and efficiency of the muscles. The external exercises lead qi to the muscles (and tendons) to energize them and build their functional power. The internal exercises build the qi inside the body and improve the flow of energy through the channels and meridians.
