We who are truly warriors appreciate the advantages of physical health and fitness. The word "warrior" comes toting its own preconceived baggage of meaning; suggesting to the "non-warriors", perhaps, a lifestyle of contention and struggle, violence wrought against violence, cunning and skill pitted against woesome adversaries. Yet life is struggle, the urge to survive and excel against any odds, in whatever situation one may find as we travel this road of life. We are Road Warriors. I'm not talking about misanthropic loners outrunning the feralised humans in their quest for gasoline and cans of dogfood. I'm thinking of the meaning of Tao, as in the path, the road, the way. We walk the road of life, so unless someone has suddenly become a tree, that person, and everyone else, is a road warrior. Kwai Chang Caine (fictional television character) said " the body is the temple of the soul". John Lennon said, "you don't take nothing with you but your soul". How do we want to carry ourselves (our souls), to all the places we will find ourselves during a life time of travel on the road? Run down abandoned tenement, or exquisite idealised well adorned condo? Perhaps, like most, we dwell in a fixer-upper; well there you go. Room to improve, to strengthen the foundation, enhance the exterior and make sure the interior has well working appliances. Whether you accept that everyone is a warrior of some kind or another, everyone should respect their own "soul cage" enough to want it as fit as possible. Buddhists, Bruce Lee, even Jimmie Ocean believe that it is the tea cup's ability to hold tea that makes it useful. But wouldn't you like a well made tea cup?
